People-first AI integration
Most businesses know AI should be on the agenda. The harder question is where to begin, which tools to trust, and how to introduce change in a way that works for your people. We're independent — we don't sell tools, we don't have a platform to push. Our job is to identify where AI can genuinely help, implement it carefully, and create the headroom for your business to thrive.
The challenge
Time disappears into repetitive administration, disconnected systems, duplicated effort, inefficient communication, meetings, emails and work that has gradually evolved over the years but no longer adds real value.
Most change fails because someone forgot to ask the people it was going to affect.
You know AI could help, but the question is: where will it actually make a difference? To answer that, you have to understand both what your business is really about and what AI is genuinely capable of — behind the hype. That's where we begin.
Why Finch Hill
Most AI conversations start with software. We start with people. It's never the tools that determine whether change succeeds, it's whether people understand them, trust them, and feel genuinely involved. That single insight shapes everything about the way we work.
People first. Technology second.
There's a temptation to start every AI conversation with software, but we think that's the wrong place to begin. Instead, we start by understanding your organisation — how work really gets done, where people get frustrated, where time disappears, and where small improvements could make a big difference. Only then do we decide if AI is part of the answer.
Our job is to help you make the right decisions — not the fashionable ones.
What creating headroom looks like
We use the word headroom deliberately — because that's what the best organisations need. Not simply greater efficiency.
Headroom
Good AI doesn't just save hours — it gives people the space to do the work that only people can do.
The businesses that succeed over the next decade won't be those that automate the most. They'll be the ones that make the best use of the capacity automation creates.
How we work
Most AI companies advise, implement and disappear. Finch Hill stays. The Headroom Framework is three stages designed not just to build the right thing, but to make sure what you gain keeps compounding. And we won't automate a process until we're confident it's worth automating.
We observe how work really happens — not how it's supposed to happen. Through interviews, workflow mapping, and a careful culture read, we build an honest picture of where your people's time and energy actually go. The output is the Headroom Report: specific, plain-English, and built around your organisation — alongside an action plan and a picture of what reinvesting those gains could mean for your business.
£1,450+VAT — fixed price · typically 2–3 weeks · full fee credited to Stage II
Only once we're confident the opportunity is worthwhile do we introduce practical AI solutions that fit your organisation rather than the other way around. No unnecessary complexity. No technology for technology's sake. Change is communicated carefully. Staff are involved throughout, not presented with a fait accompli.
That might mean automating document workflows, improving knowledge sharing, streamlining invoicing or integrating systems that currently require manual effort.
From £3,500+VAT — scoped per project
This is where most projects end — ours don't. Creating capacity only matters if you know what to do with it, and we'll help you decide how to reinvest that time into growth, customer experience, innovation and your people. We keep the systems running proactively, and each quarter we ask: what's changed, where are people still losing time, and what's the next opportunity?
From £750+VAT / month — including quarterly reviews
Trusted advice. Practical improvements.
We work best with organisations that are curious about AI but uncertain where to start. Typically: working teams that are stretched, processes that have grown organically over time, and leaders who want to move thoughtfully rather than reactively.
Sector matters less than mindset. We're built for professional services firms, agencies, manufacturers, healthcare, charities, schools, retailers — anyone who believes technology should serve people, not the other way around.
If that sounds like you, a conversation costs nothing. No pitch, no deck — just 20 minutes to understand where you are and whether we could genuinely help.

I've spent my career working where design, technology and business meet.
From some of the UK's earliest commercial websites, through digital transformation projects, agency leadership and founding businesses — one lesson has stayed with me throughout: technology succeeds when the people it's meant to serve succeed first.
I've watched websites, e-commerce, CRM, mobile, cloud computing, social media and digital transformation each arrive with the promise of changing the way organisations work. They all did — some businesses got it right first time, some took a few attempts, some floundered completely. The difference was never the technology. It was always whether people understood how to use it, and whether the change was introduced in a way that brought them along.
AI feels different — not because it's simply another technology, but because it seems to have arrived faster than anything I've experienced before. Almost every business I speak to feels they should be doing something, yet very few feel confident about where to start. That's why I started Finch Hill — not to sell AI, but to help businesses make sense of it.
My role isn't to persuade you that you need AI. It's to help you understand where it can create real value — for your business and the people inside it — where it can't, and how to make the right decisions, not just the fashionable ones.
With 25 years as a software developer, Tim brings the technical depth to turn strategy into working systems. He works alongside every Finch Hill engagement from Stage II onwards, ensuring that what gets designed can be built, and what gets built actually works.
Finch Hill are real people you'll meet in person, and we stay accountable for what we do. Martin and Tim have worked together in various guises for over two decades, and that continuity, mutual understanding, and direct access matters.
